Reckless Driver Caught After Friends Post Video to YouTube

reckless driving

Have you ever filmed one of your friends doing something completely idiotic and reckless and then posted it to YouTube? Well, for one man this very action led directly to his arrest after his friends filmed him driving erratically—nearly causing a car accident—and his attempts to evade police and posted it to the video site.

25-year-old Steven McInulty from Coventry, England had been speeding along a road when he was persued by police. In his attempts to flee, he drove the wrong way on the highway (what they call ‘carraige way’). A group of his friends stood on the side of the road, laughing uncontrollably as they filmed the chase.
Take a look for yourself.

This video was even viewed by the judge on the case and he was not as amused as McInulty’s friends. Sky News reported that the judge, Recorder Richard Atkins QC, gave a stern warning to the reckless driver.

“You caused all sorts of vehicles to have to take evasive action as you drove the wrong way and you then drove past your pals, who all thought it was tremendously funny and who had the stupidity to film you,” Atkins said. “What you did, it is luck nobody was killed or seriously injured.”

The judge went on to tell McInulty that, “I’m not going to forget that piece of driving. I know that road and I’m going to remember you.”

In the end McInulty was banned from driving for three years with an eight month suspended sentence. “He was ordered to pay costs of £1,800 and complete 200 hours of unpaid work. Once he completes his driving ban, he will have to sit an extended test,” the Sky News report explained.

This video of another news report explains the additional, unusual punishment he received—certainly not something I’ve ever heard of in this country.

I would hope that having the police crush your car—and filming it, how appropriate—would be motivation enough to prevent you from driving like that ever again.

When a motorist makes the choice to drive in a reckless manner they are not only risking their own life, but that of everyone on the road. Close Call in Daytona for Danica Patrick

during qualifying for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 19, 2011 in Homestead, Florida.

Danica Patrick’s first full season of NASCAR racing hit a bit of a bump at the Daytona International Speedway on Thursday when her GoDaddy.com car crashed. Her car hit the wall at nearly 200 miles per hour just one-lap from the end of the race. Watching the crash was enough even to make a NJ car accident lawyer jump out of their seat.

Yahoo reported that Partick, “acknowledged it was the hardest wreck of her career.” It was reported that the crash was so hard that all four wheels of the car were off the ground. Take a look at the crash here:

Thankfully she was not hurt in the crash. The SAFER barrier that she crashed into serves as a shock absorber and there has been speculation that this buff is what prevented her from sustaining serious injuries.

Yahoo said it best when they stated, “Patrick has come to NASCAR’s famous race well aware that a portion of these massive galleries still question her ability as a driver. Her toughness is no longer in debate though.”

Speed was a Factor in New Jersey Car Accident that Injured Three

Speed was a Factor in New Jersey Car Accident that Injured Three

Three people were seriously injured in a New Jersey car accident involving two vehicles after one of the drivers was speeding and lost control of his car. According to a news report in The Jersey Journal, a 42-year-old man was driving his Mustang northbound on Tonnelle Avenue the afternoon of February 22, 2012 when the collision occurred. Police said the man was driving at an excessive rate of speed. He crossed over the centerline into oncoming traffic and slammed into a Nissan driven by a 61-year-old man. The man in the Nissan and the two people in the Mustang were all taken to hospitals where they were treated for serious injuries.

My sympathies go out to the three people injured in this crash. I wish them the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

6 Ways to Handle Aggressive Drivers

Frustrated Driver

Aggressive driving is cited in an alarming number of motor vehicle accidents. What does aggressive driving refer to exactly? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration explains that an aggressive driver is a motorist who operates their vehicle deliberately in a dangerous manner despite the risk of causing an accident. This includes aggressive or illegal passing, speeding, tailgating, weaving, abrupt and dangerous lane change, honking, flashing lights, obscene hand gestures or yelling, running stop lights or stop signs, and other related behaviors.

Aggressive driving is a serious problem in this country. When you are faced with an aggressive driver near you on the road there are some things you can do to best protect yourself from being involved in an accident with them.

1. Get Away

The first thing you should attempt to do is to simply get out of their way if you can safely do so. Even if it means you have to pull over. It is better to safely get away than remain in a risky situation.

2. Seat Belt

You should always be wearing your seat belt when in a vehicle, but if you are faced with an aggressive driver make sure that you and all of your passengers are safely secured. If you do get into an accident the seat belt will greatly reduce the chance of serious injury.

3. Do Not Challenge

You may feel like you need to fight their recklessness by challenging their driving but this is a dangerous decision. It is best to not let your pride get the best of you and do not attempt to out speed them or to try and block them from continuing their reckless driving.

4. Avoid Eye Contact

Aggressive drivers may get a kick out of frustrating and infuriating other drivers, and if you look over at them you may further encourage their behavior. Keep your eyes on the road and keep a look out for your opportunity to safely get away from them.

5. Ignore Gestures

Sometimes the aggressive driving can quickly escalate and the driver may begin to taunt you by screaming obscenities or uncouth hand gestures. If it comes to this point it is best to not only ignore them but to make sure you do not return the gestures or shouts.

6. Report Them

When you can safely do so, be sure to report them to the proper authorities. Your area may have a specific number to call or jut call 9-1-1. Make sure you tell them the license plate number, a description of the vehicle, where you witnessed the aggressive driving, as well as wht direction they were traveling in.

If you see that the aggressive driver has gotten into an accident ahead be sure to stop and wait for police to arrive at the scene and then report the aggressive driving. Just hours before his death, Dunn posted photos to his Twitter that showed him and Hartwell drinking in West Chester. A toxicology report revealed that Dunn’s BAC was .196, which is more than twice the legal limit. His alcohol impairment along with speeding was said to be the contributing factors to the accident. Perhaps one of the most highly publicized car accidents in history was the crash in Paris, France that killed Diana, Princess of Wales. Princess Diana was beloved by the people both in her own country and around the world. A constant target of the media Diana remained “Princess of the People.” There has been much conspiracy surrounding the fatal accident as to whether it was really an accident or if it had been planned. On August 31, 1997 Diana and her boyfriend Dodi Fayed were travelling in a car driven by Henri Paul, who was a manager at the Paris Ritz Hotel. All three died in the crash. Paul’s father who owned the Ritz was the one who insisted the accident was a planned murder and that the MI6 and The Duke of Edinburgh were behind it. The accident was investigated by police in France and later an inquest was started in 2004 and continued through 2008. It was ruled that the accident was caused by negligent driving and that paparazzi following them. Paul’s father withdrew his accusations that it was murder in 2008 explaining that he was only doing so out of respect for Princess Diana’s children. Two billion people tuned in to her funeral it is still one of the most viewed events in history.
